lead foot much?

May 5th, 2009 at 11:03 am. Posted in Just Rachel, Oh My God.

I get pulled over a lot.   Like, an abnormal amount for your normal driver.  That’s the problem with southern New Jersey.  Six months out of the year, there is nothing for anyone do do… police officers and State Troopers spend their days harassing and pulling over innocent civilians that just happen to be doing 74 in a 50.  WHAT?!  It’s not my fault that I have a deep affection for sleeping late and a very personal relationship with my snooze button.   I prefer to make up those extra ten minutes on the highway as opposed to, oh I don’t know… getting out of bed at a reasonable time.

Exhibit A.

mailgooglecom

That is the warning I acquired this morning.  Which, is the reason that I’m writing this post right now.  I do not understand why the troopers insist on wasting their time pulling me over if they aren’t going to write me a damn ticket.  Now, in addition to already being late to work… i’m going to be even more late to work thanks to a Trooper that isn’t going to write me a ticket.

This morning though?  I thought I was done for.  April 7th I was pulled over for speeding in the SAME SPOT.  You would think I learned my lesson, right?  Apparently not.  That trooper back in April gave me a warning as well… which is ridiculous because I was speeding by a lot.  (Seriously, every time I get pulled over I am CERTAIN they are going to arrest me right there or something)  These warnings are to alert future officers of my offenses and I was pretty sure that this officer was going to see that and throw the book at me.  Funny how I know when my other warning was written, right?  I grabbed it out of the glove box while he was back checking my record to double check.

Anyway, here’s my next point.  I had an expired insurance card.  My new one is on the coffee table at home and I forgot to grab it.  Also?  My registration is expired.  He advised me of this and told me to pull out safely and get to work.  Wow.

I’m not one of those girls that cry, i’m not exceptionally cute (I do have my moments) and I don’t really DO anything to get out of getting a ticket… so I don’t understand.  I mean, I’m grateful.  I’m VERY grateful.

omg, i WISH they gave out WARNING’S in California LOL!! My husband is the KING of seatbelt tickets and has a few speeding tix under his belt too and dammmmmit, i HATE paying those SOB’s! haha. So yeah, I would be forever grateful to CA if they could start thinking like NJ and give out warning tix.

It’s because you are a cute girl. I can pretty much guarantee that right now.

Damn you’re lucky! ONE day before I moved out of state I got pulled over for expired registration and they took my tags so I had to leave it in the parking lot of some weird apartment complex until we could tow it out. It sucked majorly because they had just expired and we decided to use the money towards getting new tags in the new state. UGH. You are one lucky bug there chica.

thats what the trooper said. he was all “get this taken care of now please. if you get someone not nice, they will have your car towed.” what the hell!? i had no idea.

It’s because you are so freaking adorable! I got a ticket on my 24th birthday for going 10 miles over the speed limit when I was actually going 79 in a 55. Oopsie! I was running late.

Anytime something like that happens to me, my mom calls it the Cute Girl Discount (I didn’t say I was cute, my mom did; she has to). And you ARE freaking cute, so I agree with Matt.

you’re hot. also, thank your mom for coining the term “cute girl discount”. it might be my new favorite thing ever. :)

I’ve never gotten pulled over. I think I’d be a crier…lame

Alyssa said... May 5, 2009 @ 12:27 pm

LOL. I got a ticket once for going 10(ish?) over. Ever since then all I do is worry if I go 5 over the speed limit. Though I refuse to go lower than that as well, hah! Something about safety? :)

I don’t understand that either. I was speeding this recent weekend and a cop on a motorcylce came up next to me and told me to slow down and then left. I was shocked because I was going +15 over the speed limit.

You certainly do get pulled over a lot. The good news is you have far less tickets than that. Keep up the good work ;)

lol Look at you! First the stealing, now this? Slippery slope!! ;)

I have never talked my way out of a ticket in my life, whenever I’ve been pulled over I just hand my information right over. I’m so Canadian about it, I need to learn to talk to them! Maybe you can give me some tips?

seriously. i don’t understand it! i’m always cordial and nice… i figure if i try to get out of it, they are just going to get annoyed and write me a ticket.

and i know, i’m going down hill fast… right?

Yanno, all your problems could be solved if you would leave a bit early to get where you are going? ;)

Easier said than done, I know. Do you realize how much time you actually save by speeding? There is some calculator online and by going like 10 over the limit, you really only save a couple minutes. Not really worth it in the end (unless you are going ridiculous amounts above the limit but I’m assuming you are not going that fast).

I’m totally the same as you…I don’t cry, I don’t try to flirt, I know I’ve done something wrong so I’m just kind of expecting it. I also don’t think I’m particularly cute, but I also have my moments…I’ve been pulled over more times than I can even remember, and I’ve NEVER gotten a ticket.

My two most memorable: I got pulled over after a few drinks in college (ok, a lot of drinks, but I was so stupid that I thought I was fine to drive), did a DUI test, and they just…let me go with a “be safe.” I was NOT in any condition to drive and totally expected to be in jail within the hour.

Another time, I was doing 95 in a 35 zone. Yep…I was that girl. And I got off with a VERBAL warning, not even a written one!

My theory is that the smoking hot ones that still get tickets are the ones that KNOW they’re hot and expect to be let off because they’re hot…I don’t think cops take kindly to that hahaha
